Learn Flower and Garden Photography

This course provides an introduction to photographing flowers and gardens. You may want to learn this to better capture and share your garden and those you visit or for your business needs. Or you might simply enjoy learning something new to enhance your photography skills. 


Learning Objectives:

After this course you will be able to:

  • Use your camera for flower and garden photography
  • Establish a simple indoor photography set up at home for still life shots of flowers
  • Understand the equipment needed and how to use it for more advanced studio set up
  • Revealing a garden's personality and story
  • Capturing compelling visual narratives of gardens and garden plants

    • Why learn flower and garden photography

  • Camera basics
  • Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, Depth of Field, White Balance, Focus
  • Working with light
    • Natural and artificial, direction, shadows, colour and contrast 
  • Story and Composition
    • Composition 'rules', Hero and supporting elements, Static and dynamic images
    • People, animals, insects and birds
  • Flower arranging
    • How to make flowers look great
    • Flower styling toolkit
